The Red Hot Chile Peppers Perform

OK, Ok…people always ask, “Since your website is thesourcehotsauce then do you like the Red Hot Chile Peppers? To which most people standing around say, “The who?”

The Red Hot Chili Peppers are sometimes just called the Chili Peppers. I’ve even seen the name reduced to RHCP.

I’ve met Flea, their bass player. My wife met Anthony Kiedis the vocalist. I’ve got to say that in casual conversation, neither one of them will blow you away, but they also don’t just shun the public, either. You gotta give them some class for that.

The drummer, Chad Smith, is phenomenal.

So, that’s who is still around (Flea, Kiedis, and Chad) from the original 1983 LA rock band, pretty amazing, really.

They did mainly funk, but kick in with punk rock and psychedelic rock in their live shows.

They garnered seven Grammy awards on their way to being among the most selling bands of all time (like eighty million plus sold todate). They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012!

Josh Klinghoffer joined the band in 2009 and is still one of their primary guitarist.

They jumped into 2015 with a performance for Sean Penn in his Help Haiti Home fundraiser on January 10, so they’re still in the grind.

I actually had a friend from www.Scoobyphotos.com hook me up with some free travel and my wife and I got in on the September 27 (two days ago) Belly Up Tavern (Solana Beach) performance of the band.

They still have it going on.

Flea was completely recovered from the broken arm (skiing accident, crazy guy) and did some of his finest stuff since they performed at UCLA (May 16) and “Otherside” and “By The Way” never sounded better!

At UCLA Kiedis was honored with the George and Ira Gershwin Award for Lifetime Musical Achievement.  That was the prize for popular song from the Library Congress (originally). That’s gotta feel good to a guy who has paid the price.

These guys have really started giving back, (as in for free) a MP3 download Cardiff, Wales (6-23-04). They performed at a $1,000 a plate fundraiser two months ago and didn’t keep a penny. Hard to believe, can’t charge them with being money grubbers.

So, yeah, I’ve heard of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. I’d encourage you to get to know them before you miss the opportunity out right.

As far as hot sauce source, I did ask Flea, out of all of them, which one is the hottest pepper…and if I’d have asked all, I probably would have gotten the same answer, “I am, dude…I’m the hottest Red Hot Chili Pepper there is!”

Of course, I meant, “What pepper do you prefer?” His answer was the same.

I don’t know if the pulsating hard rock playing has finally gotten to him, or if he really didn’t understand the question or if he just didn’t have an answer was trying to play it off; but, he doesn’t have a serious answer to the question.

Me, I’d prescribe the Ancho Luis Potisi red pepper for someone like Flea. It’s wide, mid to low heat, waxy on the outside, little meat on the inside, and more popular in its immediate environment than beyond the borders.

Yep, Ancho Luis Potisi Red is just about it for that kind of guy.
